The housing project is designed to assist income-eligible homeowners with minor home repairs on their dwellings. Allowable activities include roofing, furnace replacement, electrical, plumbing, windows, floors, doors, etc. This program is a Community Development Block Grant funded by the Indiana Housing Finance Authority.

The Wells County Council on Aging serves all Wells County residents, especially senior citizens age 60+ and persons with disabilities. The purpose of the Handy-chore program is to provide assistance with minor but essential home maintenance. Examples may include repairing door latches, replacing fire alarm batteries, replacing broken window glass, etc. Workers may build wheelchair ramps or install other handicap access equipment. Handy-chore goals do not include home beautification projects.
